In August 2008, Tefla's had taken the initiative along with Times of India to organize a conference on Corporate Social Responsibility, where diverse group of business leaders , representatives from the Govt. , Academics and Social Sector came together and shared their views and experiences on several fronts of Social Responsibility Movement. The success of this forum resulted in the creation of FRAME CSR, which is a social initiative by Tefla's. After this event was over, Tefla’s got suggestions from various organizations to give this a shape of an organization which can become a dynamic network of stake-holders to advance sustainability for Global Good. It really started from that and FRAME CSR has been set up with the objectives to facilitate the development of viable CSR models & to assist members in formulating and implementing their CSR strategies and programmes, evaluate and audit organization's CSR commitments and performances and act as an information and campaign centre for good corporate governance.

FRAME CSR was formaly launched during a glittering ceremony on Friday, 13th February 2009 at Mayfair Lagoon,Bhubaneswar by His Excellency,SHRI MURLIDHAR CHANDRAKANT BHANDARE,THE GOVERNOR OF ORISSA. “FRAME CSR is tasked to work closely with business to support the continuous development and application of CSR best practices As a national CSR forum, we aim to help business enhance their CSR programme. Indeed, the CSR process is a journey together. We look forward to your continued support and contribution in bringing the CSR movement to greater heights. “said Shri Kailash Singh Founder Chairman of FRAME CSR and Managing Director Tefla’s,Dr. Sudhakar Panda-Chairman, State Finance Commission, mentioned that CSR is an integral part of the strategy for industrial growth and should take care of the problems like displacement, environmental hazards etc by giving a sense of confidence to the people affected by the location of the industry. Shri Sourabh Garg-Secretary, Industry, Govt of Orissa, highlighted the fact that CSR is not a charitable or philanthropic activity but integral to business. it helps recruit and retain good people. Shri Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, Chairman CII (Orissa Chapter) & CEO, Dhamra Port, Orissa while presiding over the function pointed out that before working upon CSR, compliance to laws and corporate ethics are of utmost importance. Shri Nageshwar Patnaik, Sr Journalist, The Economic Times drew attention to the fact that with control over vast financial and managerial resources, the corporates are in a position to expedite the process of social inclusion. Some of the CSR interventions indicate that it is possible to do good for the society without our compromising the commercial interest and rather such works have promoted its interest- Shri Patnaik added.

The Action Plan :

Shri Kailash Singh, himself with strong background in social development research along with the members of FRAME CSR are in the process of finalising the recruitment of a talented group of social scientists, strategic analyists, social audit specialists and project development support staff for undertaking the monitoring and evaluation of CSR activities of corporate houses. Many industry houses and leaders have shown interest to become its members. "We are in the process of co-opting eminent people in various fields of activities as its members “ said Shri Kailash Singh.

governer's speech
THE GOVERNOR OF ORISSA , addressing the gathering.

“Business is the engine of growth. Only business has the resources and the management talent to manufacture, buy and sell products and services and create jobs. Only business can efficiently develop and uplift the skills of people so that we can have a better tomorrow. True-Government, NGOs and International Organisations have a major role - that is to support, guide and persuade business. Part of it can be achieved through Forums such as FRAME CSR.

Today we are in the midst of a technological revolution - of great ease in producing and disseminating information, in raising money, developing new business and communicating with customers. However, at the same time we cannot be mute spectators to the gradual demise of traditional values: fairness, justice, honesty, caring and sharing. The Dalailama once said that each one us has the right to pursue our happiness in this world - but not at the expense of someone else. Maybe this is the message - this is the thought that should permeate Corporate Social Responsibility.

I wish FRAME CSR all the best in their endeavour to sensitize Indian companies to the CSR process in the right perspective in order to facilitate and create an enabling environment for equitable partnership between the civil society and business.
